Carters Steam Fair in Reading, Berks
Did you see the fireworks in Prospect Park tonight?
Carters Steam Fair has officially turned on the switch for crazy swings and a wall of (motorcycle) death. The fireworks were spectacular and my “hot and fresh” donut was indeed all that… plus powdered in sugar.
In a word, the fair was SWELL! And it’s in town until Monday.
Plus, if you visit the Carters fair website, you can download a £5 off voucher for the family fun fair in Reading! Read the rest of this entry

Gorgeous Revellers in Reading,
The weather in Reading is beautiful and so are you. It’s a shame that Zippos circus must take down its tent in Reading, but let the good times continue with Liam Gallagher’s 1960s exhibit at Reading Town Museum and Carters Steam Fair in Reading later this month.
Carters Steam promises traction engine rallies and steam rally events in the heart of Berkshire. This is one of those traveling fun fairs featuring nothing less than a grand palace of entertainment, wall of death, box trucks and living wagons. Read the rest of this entry

Have you been enjoying all the sunshine and fun in Reading?
I do hope so. The circus is in Reading for one more day. Plus, Reading Museum has a totally psychedelic exhibition on 1960s life in Reading. ‘Ready, Steady, Go!’ is at John Madejski Art Gallery until October 9.
Rumour has it that Liam Gallagher was at Reading Museum representing the ex-Oasis singer’s 1960s-style mod fashion label, Pretty Green. I cannot 100% verify this, but Pretty Green clothes are one of the exhibit’s sponsors. Liam, if you are reading this, please leave a comment below and let us know what you think of Reading. We’d love to get some more Liam love before your groovy band Beady Eye plays at Reading Festival this summer! Read the rest of this entry
The Cumberland Hotel's lobby included bizarre art and this fine pod, in which I sat. (Seated girl not me.)
Good Saturday morning to you all, fine Revellers!
It’s the first weekend in ages I’ve been able to sit in my living room and just… sit.
This was a busy week — my second as a web account manager for Yellsites Premium, part of Yell Group. Lots of new information going in one ear and out the… fingertips! Type, type, type, so much to learn, practice and use. Mainly, I’ve been doing lots of copywriting, including for a company that serves as the official carpet cleaner to Buckingham Palace! I’m here to share stories about life in Reading, Berkshire — a British town that borders on becoming a city. It’s an exciting new direction, and one which I will attempt to follow throughout this blog.
Reading is located in the heart of the Thames Valley, a thriving area for regional and international commerce. In my blog, I’ll talk about area news and developments. I’ll also review some of the best spots for dining and entertainment. And I’ll let you know about cool, fun and free stuff to do in Reading and Berkshire!
By the way, I’m an American girl, you see, so I’ll do my best to tell these stories with a bit of twang when possible.
Let’s get ready to revel in Reading!
